With nearly 200 installations, performances, events, and activations in tow, the multi-week festival takes over uptown once again April 1-17. It’s a long-awaited return for Charlotte Shout! But that’s why its charge, to showcase our community’s creativity, innovation, diversity, and resilience, is so important in 2022.It does just that with what organizers call its “pillars”—art, food, music, and ideas. Highlights from its ever-updated and expanding schedule of activities hint at the massive scope of this year’s festival. Nearly all of the events are outdoors, free, and open to the public without tickets.

Celebrates the fusion of art, music, and eco-consciousness. Mithila art adorns the xylophone’s frame on the sides. This ancient folk art from the Mithila region of India brings vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and cultural storytelling to our musical masterpiece. Each creative stroke of the brush tells a tale of cultural heritage and its interplay with nature. The Sonic Runway is a light-art installation that converts audio signals into patterns of light that shoot down a 350 ft corridor of 20 LED lined arches at the speed of sound.
The venue will be open every day for people to tinker with the keys or practice their skills, and it will host a number of musicians and live performances during the festival. Other performances include an Easter Praise Fest, local bands and a Jazz Fest to close out SHOUT!. Take in the performances while enjoying food from local vendors and admiring the 10+ murals on repurposed shipping containers. Food experiences, sponsored by Compass Group, include multiple festivals, like the Charlotte StrEATs Festival and the Carolina BBQ Festival.
You’ll find music at the Ally Main Stage at First Ward Park, Victoria Yards, Pianodrome, Cafe 400 at 400 S Tryon Street, and more.
